Emmalee is a graduate of the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in photojournalism and a master of arts with an emphasis in visual editing and management. She worked at the Columbia Missourian, and held a variety of roles. She covered MU football as a photojournalist, reported on the COVID-19 pandemic as an education reporter, planned election coverage as a photo editor and led the visuals staff as Assistant Director of Photography.
Outside of the newsroom, Emmalee is very interested in photographic history and research. She assisted with The Pruitt Project, a book and exhibition of Jim Crow-era Mississippi photographs, while in school and conducted her own exploration into influences on photographers as her master’s project.
